January 28, 2005 - San Diego, CA - CAOMA Vice President An York Lee delivered keynote testimony on behalf of CAOMA to the California Dental Board opposing a reduction in acupuncture certification standards for dentist.

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of CAOMA, CAAM, CAMA, UCPCM, and other organizations supporting CAOMA, the California Dental Board voted against its own proposal to reduce training for dentists to practice acupuncture down to 24 hours. CAOMA Vice President, An York Lee, delivered keynote testimony on behalf of CAOMA and the California Licensed Acupuncturist profession.

CAOMA's thorough research into the background of this issue, our detailed comments and questions, and Vice President An York Lee's organizing of nearly twenty acupuncturists to attend the Dental Board hearing proved the deciding factors in overcoming the risky proposal to reduce the abbreviated dental acupuncture course requirements from 80 hours down to 24 hours.

The Dental Board vote marked yet another success in CAOMA's twenty-year history of legislative representation for the profession and our effort to unify the profession.
