The Practice of Oriental Medicine

The Arts of Oriental Medicine

Section 4926 states that "the Legislature intends to establish in this article, a framework for the practice of the art and science of oriental medicine through acupuncture." Initially, acupuncture was the singular modality that Certified Acupuncturists were allowed to practice when the law was written and passed in 1975. The Legislature intended for the recognizable practice of the acupuncture modality to be used as a "framework" or foundation upon which an entire system of medicine could gradually be transferred from Asia and constructed within a new and independently licensed primary health care profession in California.
