Re: AB 1943 (Chu) - Acupuncturist Education - Support as Amended
Dear Chairwoman Thomson:
I support Assembly Member Judy Chus legislation to raise acupuncture and oriental medicine training programs standards for better education. Students should expect quality education, regardless of which school they attend. Our patients expect acupuncturists to understand their health conditions and to be able to treat them competently and consistently. As a licensed acupuncturist, I am willing to take more continuing education, because it is best for my patients, too.
Assembly Bill 1943 will:
Set education standard for licensed acupuncturists to 3,000 hours for students entering after January 1, 2004.
Require currently licensed acupuncturists to take 450 hours of continuing education over the next ten years.
State Legislative intent to raise education standard for licensed acupuncturists to 4,000 hours by 2010.
Please support this important legislation to help students and patients.
Sincerely,
cc: Assembly Member Judy Chu
