Background: Acupuncturists are currently required to take only 30 hours of continuing professional education every two years. Some acupuncturists have been licensed since the late 1970s, when educational standards were much lower. This bill would raise continuing education standards to 50 hours, similar to some other professions, and would require five of the hours of continuing education to be dedicated to public health and public safety issues.
