Today, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R), 46th district, California, became the 42nd co-sponsor of the Federal Acupuncture Coverage Act of 2005.

Rep. Rohrabacher is a long-time and early supporter of the Hinchey Bill.  He co-sponsored the 1997 bill when it had 17 co-sponsors.  Rep. Rohrabacher was a co-sponsor of the 1999 bill, which had 22 co-sponsors.  He co-sponsored Rep. Hinchey's 2001 bill, which was co-sponsored by 36 members of the House, and he was a co-sponsor of the acupuncture bill in the last Congress, when 63 representatives were co-sponsors.

As a five-time California co-sponsor of the Federal Acupuncture Coverage Act, Rep. Rohrabacher becomes the 12th member of the California congressional delegation to co-sponsor H. R. 818.

Indeed, on June 24, 2003, Rep. Rohrabacher, in a speech on the floor of the U. S. House of Representatives mentioned acupuncture, among other modalities.  He said

"The American people need to have these available to them, these and other vehicles for a good healthy life."

Rep. Rohrabacher's reference to acupuncture was published in The Congressional Record.
