June 3, 2005 - Sacramento, CA - CAOMA organizes 30th anniversary celebration of licensure on July 10 with Governor Jerry Brown in San Francisco.

CAOMA invites acupuncturists to join Mayor Jerry Brown and the leaders of our profession in San Francisco on July 10 to celebrate 30 years of state licensure.

On July 12, 1975, Governor Jerry Brown signed Senate Bill 86 (Moscone), legislation that created state certification for acupuncturists, and took practitioners from illegal backroom practices into mainstream professional health care. Governor Jerry Brown had been elected as the very democratic and popular son of a former California Governor to replace the conservative Governor Ronold Reagan. In 1974, Governor Reagan had vetoed similar legislation.

This year, we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of that event at a luncheon with the former California Governor and current Mayor of Oakland - Jerry Brown.
